Old Testament law and New Testament grace

We believe that the 66 books of the modern Bible hold everything we need to know in regard to history and historical teaching but do not demand doctrine.  God’s word is contained within; written in love and expressed by Christ’s birth, sinless life, death, and resurrection.  Nothing is to be taught outside of love – the Bible is a love story between God and His people.  Christ did not come to abolish the law nor the prophets, but that the law should be fulfilled through Him.  Matthew 5:17.

All sin has been forgiven by God

Sin doesn’t divide us from God anymore, because He sees us through Jesus-colored glasses.  Everyone has fallen short of the glory of God, but sin needs never be a deterrent from love, fellowship, nor ministry.  We will never beat anyone down because of sin.  In fact, we will lift them up to reconciliation with God and with each other.  Romans 3:23.

Angels, heavenly beings, Satan, & demons

We might very well entertain angels unawares.  We believe in the reality of angels, heavenly beings, Satan and his demons.  Satan is not omnipresent, omnipotent, nor omniscient.   Satan and his minions oppress the world and tempt the Church.  But Christ has already conquered Satan and death at the cross of Calvary.  Hebrews 13:2 and 1 Peter 5:8.

Being born again and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Christ knocks at the door of our heart waiting for us to open and allow him in.  When we come into relationship with Jesus Christ, we become born again and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit begins at that very moment.  John 3:7 and Acts 2:4.

Communion and water baptism

The first ordinance of the Church is the table of the Lord which is open to everyone – NO EXCEPTIONS!  We will always celebrate the table in open communion with anyone, believer or not, who’d like to come to the table. We teach believer’s baptism.  Although water baptism is not a requirement for salvation, it is the outward declaration that you have come into relationship with Jesus Christ.  Baptism can be celebrated in any fashion desired, although immersion is our primary method for water baptism.  1 Cor. 11:25 and Matthew 28:19.

The Church, Judaism, and the ancient holidays of Israel

The Church today is an extension of ancient Judaism, the teachings of the chosen people of God.  Israel holds a special place to the Church and we celebrate and affirm our Jewish brothers and sisters.  We honor their ancient holidays and the connection each holiday has with Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary.  We pray for the peace of Israel and Palestine and believe Jerusalem to be the Holy City of God; the future center of the world during the End Times.  Deut 14:2 and Psalms 33:12.

The virgin birth of Christ & universal redemption thru Christ’s death at Calvary

Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, who was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit.  John 3:17 says that God sent His son not to condemn the world, but rather that the world would be saved through him.  We believe in the universal redemption of all people: past, present, and future, and believe that Christ’s blood extends to every individual no matter who they are, where they live, or what they believe.  Christ died for the world.  The world includes you.  You are covered by Christ’s blood.  Sin has no eternal hold on you.  Matthew 1:18 and John 3:17.

The Holy Trinity

We believe that God exists in three persons: The Father (Jehovah), the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.  All three constitute the ONE and only God, existent in three persons.  Matthew 28:19.

Speaking in tongues, interpretation, and heavenly languages

We believe that God has given some the gift of tongues; others the gift of interpretation of tongues, and even others the gift of heavenly languages.  We believe all expression of these gifts must be manifested in a manner consistent with Biblical teaching and proper etiquette, so these gifts never interfere or detract from the work God is doing in the Church.
1 Cor. 12:10.

Authority of scripture, gifts of the Spirit & prophecy

We believe the authority of scripture while it is interpreted to reflect God’s love and grace.  We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that prophecy is alive and well today.  We reject any teaching that is contrary to the love that God has for His people.  2 Tim. 3:16 and Hebrews 2:4.

Marriage, Dating, Sex, and Accountability

We believe that God joins those He has destined together, and that marriage is a celebration between individuals who choose to love and honor each other binding themselves together.  We do not make a distinction between opposite-sex marriage and same-sex marriage; we believe love is love.  We believe that dating, sex, and accountability are the responsibility of those involved and that no one should ever use scripture to condemn, ridicule, or impose rules on othersEphesians 5:25.

The Church today and Jesus, the Cornerstone

The Church exists today to honor and worship Jesus Christ, who is he himself, the Chief Cornerstone.  The Pastors and leaders of Dapstep Ministries serve Jesus Christ alone.  Nobody but Jesus Christ serves as Head of the Church and our Pastors are merely servant-leaders designed to further the good news of God’s love for His people.  Ephesians 2:20.

The Rapture of The Church and the End Times

We await the Rapture of the Church as described throughout the New Testament.  We believe those who have already entered into relationship with Christ will be raptured and taken into the clouds as a prelude to the end times.  We believe that the world will then experience a time of great tribulation such as the Earth has never experienced, and that seven-year period will set loose a chain of events leading to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ with His Church to fight Satan in what will become the final events of this world.  1 Thess. 4:16-17.

Tithing, giving, and emptying your hands

We believe that while the Old Testament teaches tithing, the New Testament teaches giving.  Giving includes time, service, and the emptying of our hands to honor Christ.  A church that requires or belittles its people into giving is contrary to the teaching that giving is to be joyful and hilarious.  2 Cor. 9:7 and 1 Cor. 16:2.

Church holy days

While we regularly celebrate Christmas and Resurrection Sunday, there are other church holy days that we will celebrate including Heritage Sunday, Anniversary Sunday and others we might add from time to time.  As our church grows, we expect for our calendar to do likewise.
Luke 2:14.

The fivefold ministry

While the Bible teaches the fivefold ministry: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, we believe that there are many more ministries continually being added to today’s church including musicians and worship leaders, artists, encouragers, church laborers, social and fellowship leaders, and many others.
Ephesians 4:11.

Our Statement of Faith, social justice and our responsibility

Our Statement of Faith is what God has engraved in our hearts and lives.  Not one of the above is to be taken as an inflexible obligation that doesn’t first include and exhibit unconditional love and acceptance.  We are a church of social justice warriors and believe that the Church must feed the poor, care for its widowed and divorced persons, and always love the outcast.  Today’s outcasts include immigrants and refugees, the undocumented, the poor, the homeless, and so many others who have been castaway in the same fashion that lepers, prostitutes, tax collectors, Samaritans and Gentiles were in New Testament times.
